Artists and Fans of Electronic Music

I just thought about art of remix. Is it just cheap remake or completely new look at the piece of artist from different angle? Should it sound the same as original or better to put power of your fingers in remix to feel the difference and touch of freshness?
C'mon, people! Is there someone who want to say something or art of remix is dead?

Peace,
TekTrip with TechVision - Saulgriezhi (TekTrip Remix)

i think remixes are the song in your own personal view. i've never done a remix before, but if i get a song that reallyy just hits me, i'd have to make something in my own view of it. i think remixes shouldn't be a cheap rendition that sounds almost if not exactly the same as the original song. i think remixes should be something you put yourself in almost, using your own mind and your own creativity to make something to show that you really respect an artist who made the original song.

I agree, someone should start a forum about this. Id like to hear others opinions on this.
I was just thinking about remixes from the original artists stand point and i think it would be an honor to have another artist take the time and energy to remix one of your songs. (unless of coarse they did a horrid job)

That's the point.
As a DJ - I never played originals, just remixes (B sides), because of the beauty in difference from pop'ed versions.
From other hand - as an artist - what will be better as to hear good remix for your track?
As a remixer - it's not easy to find that string in composition which let you catch the wave and jump straight in the heart of remix.
May be is worth to start forum thread about the remixes? Question still isn't just theoretical, but full of unanswered and unsaid real people questions and experiences in and about remixing.

This one is not very close to the original but isn't that the point of entrusting someone with doing a remix? You expect something new and fresh, a different angle of vision and sometimes maybe even expect the unexpected:))!
Agree with Frequency 13 about making covers.

I always liked remixes. Its difficult to accomplish a good remix even for professional musicians. You have to take a slightly different spin than the original while still sticking to the roots of the song.
Covers on the other hand I dislike very much. I see no point in doing the same exact thing someone else has already accomplished.
